Portfolio concentration guide

See how much of your portfolio sits in a few holdings.

Calculate each visible holding’s share of your portfolio, then add holdings in the same sector. The free screenshot review can highlight possible concentration, but it cannot determine whether your whole financial plan is too risky.

Questions to check

Based on holdings you can verify

Weight of each visible holding
Combined weight of holdings in the same sector
Holdings missing from a cropped screenshot
Figures to verify against your broker statement

Holding weight

Divide a holding’s current value by the total value shown. A ₹40,000 holding in ₹1,00,000 of visible stocks weighs 40%.

Sector weight

Add the current values of companies in one sector before dividing by the visible total. Several smaller positions can still create one large exposure.

Scenario check

Try a hypothetical fall in a concentrated sector to see its arithmetic effect. The result is an illustration, not a forecast of losses.

Verify the data

Compare symbols, quantities and current values with your broker statement. An incomplete or misread screenshot makes the percentages unreliable.

What a holdings screenshot can and cannot show

Visible stock weights

If current values are legible, you can calculate the proportion of the visible stock portfolio held in each company. Crop out account and personal details before uploading.

Possible sector overlap

A screenshot can prompt a review of companies in the same sector. Check the company classification yourself; a single company can span several businesses.

Missing context

A screenshot may omit cash, mutual funds, debt, other accounts and liabilities. It cannot establish your full asset allocation or your capacity to absorb a loss.

Limits of an AI response

The AI may misread a symbol or infer the wrong sector. It cannot calculate historical drawdown, correlations or future returns from a holdings image alone. Treat its output as a checklist for further research.

How to calculate portfolio concentration risk

Start with current holding values, rather than the amount you originally invested. Divide each holding’s current value by the total value of the holdings you are reviewing, then multiply by 100. Repeat for each sector by adding together its holdings.

Illustrative ₹1,00,000 portfolio — invented values, not stock recommendations
HoldingCurrent valueWeight
Bank A₹40,00040%
Bank B₹30,00030%
IT company₹20,00020%
Consumer company₹10,00010%

This portfolio has four holdings, but 70% of its value is in banking. If both bank holdings fall 20% while the others stay flat, the total portfolio falls ₹14,000, or 14%. This simple scenario illustrates concentration; it is not a forecast or a complete risk model. There is no single suitable allocation for every investor.

Can AI predict stock prices or guarantee returns?

No. AI can help explain visible holdings and highlight questions for further research. It can misread screenshots and produce incorrect information. A screenshot alone does not establish future returns, historical volatility, correlations or your complete financial position. Any buy, hold or exit labels are educational output, not instructions to trade.

What should I check after the analysis?

Confirm each stock and quantity, check whether a few stocks or sectors dominate the portfolio, and consider whether you need the money soon. Read the analysis methodology and limitations before acting. For personalised decisions, consult a qualified financial adviser.
