Why paper trade before investing real money?

Paper trading lets you record buy and sell decisions against a virtual ₹10 lakh portfolio using available stock quotes. It can show how position size affects simulated profit and loss, but it does not reproduce actual order fills or the emotions of putting real money at risk.

Suggested practice plan: Week 1 — buy 3–5 large-cap stocks with equal weights and hold. Week 2 — try one stop-loss exit. Week 3 — compare your return to Nifty. Keep a note of why you entered each trade; review mistakes without financial damage.
